About
MUSIC
MUSIC is my sanctuary. The world can be a harsh place, I never fit in easily. Music has always offered a relief from time itself. I feel safest with my headphones on... a place my heart and mind can be at peace.
The Ocean
I COULD SWIM BEFORE I COULD WALK. The ocean is a huge inspiration for me and always has been. I grew up in the Bahamas Islands. When I was a baby my father would toss me into the ocean and I would swim to the surface. I use underwater images and sing underwater because I want to connect to water, to the ocean, to the feeling of vulnerability we have when we can't breathe. To reach for hope in the darkest of moments.
My Love
My beloved are at the core of me. Mecca and Joseph are the center of my world, I put music off for a long time, so I could be what they needed. This album came to life for me when I decided have them both in a song. When I write songs love is often at the center of my creation. My music is representative of everything my heart holds close, loved ones living and dead, they are always with me.
